ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Jose Mayora is the Senior Portfolio Manager of the Divita Value-Growth Fund, a long-term public equities fund grounded in value-investing principles. As a portfolio manager, he has spent years analyzing businesses with a critical eye. One recurring observation stands out: even experienced investors often misinterpret what a stock price truly reflects.

Too often, they begin with forecasts—projecting cash flows into the future and discounting them back. In doing so, they overlook what Jose Mayora considers the real key to investment insight: the current stock price itself, and the assumptions already embedded within it. These misconceptions are at the heart of his book Wall Street’s Blind Spots.

In addition to managing the fund, Jose Mayora has played a central role in shaping investment decisions across all major asset classes at the private family office that partnered with him to launch the fund. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charterholder and holds dual undergraduate degrees in Business and Economics from the University of Virginia, as well as a master’s degree in Economics from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Wall Street’s Blind Spots is not your typical value investing book. Rather than revisiting well-worn concepts, it offers a fresh perspective—and more importantly, one that makes a real contribution to the field. With remarkable clarity and logic, Jose Mayora teaches readers how to properly value a business—and by extension, how to identify undervalued stock opportunities—in a way that challenges many of the field’s most accepted practices.

For curious beginners, this book presents a valuation framework and investing mindset grounded in common sense and practical insight—one that demystifies stock investing and makes it feel within reach. Meanwhile, investing professionals and academics may find themselves rethinking many of the assumptions that drive their current investment decision-making.

At its core, the book offers a complete reframing of conventional equity analysis. Rather than projecting the future to estimate a stock’s value, Jose Mayora reverse-engineers the process and asks: what needs to be true for today’s prices to be justified? In doing so, he sheds new light on the real drivers of long-term returns—capital allocation and reinvestment returns—and uncovers the blind spots even the most sophisticated investors often overlook.
